Devereux Architects have been delivering high quality urban design for over 70 years. Our masterplans have ranged in scale from small urban developments to large brownfield residential proposals. We focus on place-making - ensuring the development is a memorable environment for people to live and work.

Often the projects we are involved with are designed as part of a wider mixed-use strategy, creating an appropriate balance of commercial uses including retail, office, leisure and public realm. Quality retail and leisure accommodation is an essential aspect of any thriving community, whether that is the creation of a destination shopping experience or modest local community retail provision.

We will advise and work closely with the client in order to realise a piece of new urban design that maximises the potential of a site in terms of both space optimisation and functionality. A guiding principle for our masterplan development is to ensure that places are easy to get around and are well connected, both internally and to the local neighbourhood. Developing buildings and public spaces that have a distinct character is important in our designs to make places more readable and legible and to develop a sense of pride for the development’s users.

We have worked on projects in the UK and Ireland, Central Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Caribbean. We are currently preparing an outline planning application for a 400 home residential community including retail, leisure and transport facilities in the north-east of England.
