We have been responsible for a wide range of heritage and cultural projects for many users. These encompass buildings of many types and ages. Listed buildings refurbished include Grade I, Grade II* and Grade II. Designs have included extensions to listed buildings and new buildings within their surroundings. Devereux Architects have completed a number of exhibition and refurbishment projects for the British Museum, and other smaller museums and galleries in the North of England.
Through this experience we have become skilled at obtaining planning permissions for complex and sensitive building projects, especially those involving conservation issues. Frequently this requires negotiation with the planners, conservation offices, English Heritage, Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), and other specialist consultants to obtain the most beneficial solution for the client, within a limited time period.
The practice also assembled a considerable portfolio of Sports and Health & Fitness projects which have been delivered for a wide range of clients. These include universities, Secondary and Primary education institutions, commercial organisations and Local Authorities. Completed projects include the refurbishment of the Billingham Forum in Teesside, which provides updated sports facilities including 25m pool, fitness suite, dance studio and ice rink; and the training headquarters for Middlesborough Football Club with the associated Eston Sports Academy which provides community leisure and sports facilities alongside specialist training in a range of sports.
We have also produced a number of sports masterplans for academic institutions including the Universities of Oxford, London, Kent, Surrey, Southampton and Reading.
