Devereux Architects have a strong reputation for the design of hotels from budget to five star. We have also designed theme parks, tourist destinations, community recreation centres and other leisure facilities.
A guiding principle of our retail, leisure and hospitality design is to ensure that the commercial needs of the project are met through a carefully considered design that aims to get the best possible result from the project budget. This need is particularly acute in a tough and competitive sector where a project can succeed or fail in a relatively short space of time. The architectural quality of the environment will be a key factor in the long-term success of a project – from the fine details to the space and route planning. It is essential that new leisure facilities are easy to get around and are well connected, both internally and to the local neighbourhood. Developing buildings and spaces that have a distinct character is important in order to make places more legible and to develop a sense identity that can be appreciated by it’s users, and communicated to others. In the Middle East we have designed a 300-hectare island development, which is centred around an 18-hole golf course. This exclusive development includes a spa hotel, marina, retail centre, two boutique hotels and a 200-bed four star hotel. It also has 4,000 apartments and 300 luxury villas both waterside and fronting the golf course.
Our architects have considerable experience in the design and fit-out of supermarket scale retail units and associated facilities such as warehousing and infrastructure. We have worked for a range of companies including Marks and Spencer, Asda, Safeway, Lidl and Aldi, and through this work we have worked closely with clients and contractors by helping to rethink the construction, technique and programme. By adapting the designs to suit modern methods of construction we have been able to create degrees of efficiency to the build process, adding considerable value to the project.
