Royal Brompton Hospital, New Cardiovascular Biochemical Research Unit

The new £2.5 million unit is a collaborative, state of the art research and treatment facility at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Chelsea. Involving Imperial College London, the National Institute for Health and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Foundation Trust.

The unit was officially opened on 15th November and incorporates a 3T scanner, echo cardiography laboratory, genetics facilities including next generation sequencer, robot and associated equipment, interventional cardiology facilities (catheter laboratory) and intravascular ultrasound. Support facilities include consulting rooms, clinical preparation areas, image processing, workshop, research offices and seminar space.

The facility represents a continuation of the hospitals cardiovascular research portfolio which, with the involvement of patients and the public, ensures that the focus of health improvements increases public awareness and understanding of the work done by the unit.
