The new Peninsula Dental School in Truro was delivered via the ProCure 21 route and is the second facility for the Peninsula Dental School to be designed by Devereux Architects within the last few years.
The new dental school accommodation is located on the first two floors of the four storey structure. The top two floors form an extension to the neighbouring Knowledge Spa, providing extra accommodation for the Peninsula Medical School and associated research facilities. This has been reflected in the use of materials and expression of the building, with the upper floors using the same language as the existing Knowledge Spa.
Professor Wendy Purcell, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Plymouth said: 'As a key partner in the Peninsula Dental School, the University of Plymouth is committed to leading transformational change in the city and region. I consider that this new facility will play a vital role in offering free community access to an important health service.'
The Project was let with a contractual requirement to achieve BREEAM Very Good, however the contractor, client and professional team worked together to achieve BREEAM Excellent.
