This project involved the expansion of the private maternity unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital from six rooms to 16 rooms all to the highest possible standard including en-suite facilities.
Three of these rooms are dedicated delivery rooms, one with birthing pool facility, twelve are postnatal bedrooms and one is of combined functions. Additional provisions include outpatient consultations and ultrasound scanning.
On this project, the expansion of maternity necessitated the increase of cot numbers within the adjoining Level 3 NICU to a 40 cot unit.
A significant challenge of this project was executing the refurbishment within an operational hospital and implementing a practical and logical phasing strategy.
