Devereux Architects healthcare design experience has been gained over the last 60 years and covers all types of healthcare facility. Over 700 projects have been completed for the UK’s National Health Service, healthcare authorities internationally and the independent sector.

We have worked on designs for general and specialist UK hospitals. Specialist tertiary hospitals include cardiothoracic, neurosciences, orthopaedics, psychiatry, oncology, ophthalmology and dental. The practice has also had considerable involvement with new installations for diagnostic imaging and treatment, especially CT, PET, linear accelerators, MEG and MRI.

On a local level, we have experience of delivering a range of community & primary health centres including the award winning Loxford Polyclinic in North London and four projects for Plymouth LIFT. The recently opened Mallow Primary Care Centre, is the first and largest of the 200 centres planned for the Irish Governement’s Health Strategy, bringing three existing town centre GP practices into one building.

Over the past fifteen years, our specialist healthcare designers have developed an expert knowledge in the design of facilities for the provision of mental health care. We have designed all types of care units including low and medium secure, PICU, CAMHS, older adult, adult acute, 136 suites, substance misuse and functional/dementia.

Devereux Architects has experience with all types of procurement for healthcare projects including public private partnerships (PPP) and the private finance initiative (PFI). Projects using this type of procurement have ranged in size from community hospitals and mental health units to the largest new hospital project in the UK, the Barts and Royal London Hospitals PFI.

Understanding the future strategy of a health provider is a key stage prior to progressing with an individual project. Devereux Architects has amassed considerable experience with strategies and masterplans for healthcare organisations, and has worked closely with trusts and organisations to help them realise their visions for the future development or rationalisation of healthcare estates.
