Dunboyne Commuter Railway, Ireland

The Dunboyne Commuter Rail Project will provide a rail transport service for up to 2 million passengers per year from Dublin City Centre to Dunboyne M3 motorway interchange. The project is part of the Government strategy for the development of the Irish rail network, under Transport 21.

The Commuter Railway follows the route of the disused Dublin to Navan railway line, over a distance of 7.5km. The project involves the construction of a double track railway, with provision for future electrification, and the construction of three new stations and a Park and Ride facility for 1200 cars at the motorway interchange. Existing bridges have been refurbished or reconstructed to current design standards.

A significant feature of the station designs is the consideration given to accessibility provisions, in compliance with the most recent national and EU regulations. The provisions include lift access to pedestrian bridges, help points and audio loops in the station buildings, creating a user friendly environment for the disabled.
