Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Corporate HQ

The concept behind this building was to transform it into a new high spec office and headquarters incorporating the best ideas in office design whilst saying something about Wyeth ideals, philosophy and culture.

The design incorporates elements of open-plan offices, by providing many opportunities for staff interaction via the use of numerous meeting spaces. The cellular offices have sliding glass partitions enabling the front wall to be opened-up to the rest of the office, encouraging conversation, discussion and the sharing of ideas. The central drum has been designed as a unifying element that relates equally to every part of the floorplate. The drum contains all of the minor elements of day-to-day office life, such as: toilets, showers, tea points, photocopy and print rooms, lifts and stairs. This leaves the floorplates clear for desks, meetings and breakout areas.

The interior is designed around a natural theme to give a domestic feel to the space and for staff to feel at home. The drum is clad in natural cherry wood veneer. Feature lighting illuminates the drum at night and is visible from the main road. Natural limestone was used as flooring for the canteen and front atrium.
