Devereux Architects produced masterplan proposals for a proposed ‘Scientific’’ theme park in Dubai. The proposals were conceived as the ultimate theme park ‘offering visitors breathtaking opportunities to travel to extraordinary places and experience astonishing events in an amazing environment.
Excytec is a unique concept exploiting cutting-edge computer technologies and interactive computer-generated imagery to create worlds of imagination. This use of imagery and technology is combined throughout the entertainment attractions, restaurants and hotels to create a seamless and unprecedented world-class visitor experience with many advantages compared to conventional theme parks.
Combined with the theme park is a complimentary development of high tech commercial buildings, hotels, apart-hotels, a local retail centre, limited residential and a trade and exhibition centre. This development is intended as a business cluster for IT and media industries that have a empaphy with the concepts behind the Excytec theme park.
The Core of the development concept is the main ‘Travelport’ Building, where visitors will be able to experience various attractions. This extensive, crescent shaped building on three floors sits in a lake water feature. For their virtual journey, visitors will move from the main Core of the Travelport to six pods, which will contain two 200-seat theatres with a central themed foyer space between the theatres, all of which will be used to create a complete journey for the visitor.
The landscape of the park has been carefully designed to reflect the futuristic theme - with a combination of unconventional planting and artificial surfaces.
