Devereux Architects can offer a wide range of  Landscape Architecture services. These include:

Project Inception and Feasibility - To give our clients a clear understanding of potential issues and the best way to achieve their aims we carry out appraisals of client requirements, prepare of scopes of work, site assessments, desk top searches and advise on related consultancy services or surveys required eg arboriculture, ecology and other environmental sciences.  We also provide advice on landscape planning issues affecting a site or type of development. (Landscape Institute Landscape Consultants Services Stages A and B)

Landscape (Seascape or Townscape) and Visual Assessment - As part of Environmental Impact Assessment and as an intrinsic element of the design process, we carry out baseline assessments of landscape or townscape character types and visual receptors affected by development and evaluate their value and sensitivity.  We follow the Landscape Institute and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (GLVIA) and latest best practice.

Site Development Plans - For sites where development of the whole site will not be immediate, we can develop masterplans showing general scheme principles, layout and integration with surrounding land uses and proposals.

Outline, Sketch and Detailed Landscape Proposals - Through these work stages (Landscape Institute Landscape Consultants Services Stages C-E) we prepare and develop proposals for landscapes, as a setting for buildings, providing gardens, courtyards, public open spaces, parks, plazas, roof terraces, green roofs, green walls or enhancement to roads, footpaths and waterways.  With costing implications and client agreement at staged points, we prepare planning application information and integrate proposals with all of the consultancy team and contractor on constraints and opportunities for biodiversity, art, architecture, traffic and services.

Graphics - Using a mixture of hand sketches, Auto CAD, Adobe Photoshop and In-design we use our strong graphic skills to illustrate the character, mood and quality of our design intent.

Design and Access Statements - We prepare “Design and Access Statements” (DAS) for planning applications on schemes where landscape and urban design is the lead consultancy.  Where a detailed application for a building or structure is prepared by others we can provide sections on the landscape design.  The DAS sets out the principles of design in non-technical terms and is a useful tool in the planning process to illustrate the design development and concepts to the public and for our clients.

Public Consultation - We prepare and organise material for public consultation and liaison; attend public meetings.

Art Commissioning - We advise on the commissioning or selection of works of art in connection with landscape commissions.

Site Furniture - Design or advise on the selection of site furniture and equipment; arrange and inspect the fabrication of site furniture, arrange trials and training in use of equipment.

Landscape (Townscape or Seascape) and Visual Impact Assessment - Building on the baseline assessment as described above and advice given to the design team through the design process we carry out impact assessments of proposed development in line with the Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (GLVIA) and latest best practice, for inclusion in Environmental Statements where required under the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations.

Grant Applications - Provide information, make applications for and conduct negotiations for grants for schemes such as the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Urban Parks Programme.

Production Information - Following the Landscape Institute Landscape Consultants Services Stages F+G, we prepare production drawings, schedules and specifications suitable to invite tenders and for construction using Autocad, Keyscape and the National Building Specification as suitable to the scope of the project.

Landscape Management Plans - We prepare management plans and maintenance schedules, drawings and operational manuals, assessing cost and staffing implications of proposals.

Nursery Visits and Plant Procurement - Visits horticultural nurseries to ascertain the quantity, quality and cost of stock available for purchase are often a useful part of the purchasing process.  On large scale schemes it can be useful at an early stage to set up advanced growing contracts with a supplier or group of nurseries to ensure numbers and quality of stock.  This is especially useful where local provenance material is required.

Operations on Site - In line with the Landscape Institute Landscape Consultants Services Stages H-L, we provide advice to our clients on the selection of contractors through to maintenance of installed landscape schemes and completion.
