Practice History

Devereux Architects originated in the UK in the 1930s and has developed into an international practice working across most sectors, providing a range of services to public and private clients.

Devereux Architects is ranked as one of the 30 largest architecture practices in Britain (Architects Journal AJ100, 2011)  and is one of the top 100 architectural practices internationally (BD, World Architecture 100, 2010). We currently employ more than 200 people operating from offices across the UK, Central & Eastern Europe, Ireland, Middle East and Asia.

Our practice is part of the PM Group, the international engineering, architecture and project management company - with its headquarters in Ireland and offices in the UK and across continental Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America.

In the last ten years the practice has continued to develop a strong body of work within education, healthcare and the science & technology sectors, though we have also produced successful design proposals for commercial, leisure, retail, residential and mixed-use schemes.

Recent succesful projects include two new award-winning school buildings - Bexhill High School in East Sussex and Monkseaton High School in North Tyneside. Completed new facilities for Langley Green Hospital, Goodmayes Hospital and Suffolk Mental Health Partnership have extended the practice's expertise and reputation within the specialist mental health sector. We have developed an overseas portfolio of new hospital projects in the Caribbean, Ireland, Middle East and Europe and the practice has two major new centres of scientific research currently on site, The Wohl Neuroscience Centre for King's College London and The Campus of Ageing and Vitality for Newcastle University.

Devereux Architects have worked with Gentoo to deliver a new sustainable housing scheme in Houghton-le-Spring, which will be one of the first Passivhaus developments in the UK when it reaches completion at the end of the year. Our recently established Urban Design team have developed a range of masterplanning and landscape proposals for schemes in Bishop Auckland, Poland, Russia and Abu Dhabi.
